Karen’s art is unique as it expresses her genuine love for all things beautiful in our country and is often reflected in her paintings and drawings. Karen enjoys sharing her enthusiasm through art as many different subjects move her, whether it is a sunset landscape or the beauty of the human form; Karen believes art is meant to inspire and create emotion. Karen’s inspiration is often taken from her surroundings and mediums used are acrylic, sketches in pencil, water colour, and working with clay. Karen will paint on almost anything as it then becomes a challenge not only to the artist but to viewers to see that beauty and art can be in anything and everywhere. Karen grew up in the Foothills in Southern Alberta and loves the tranquil, vast open spaces. Karen is a proud Canadian who loves calling Alberta her home and believes that Canadians should celebrate their uniqueness without hesitation. When inspired to create, Karen will often take pictures, research ideas and contemplate upcoming art pieces; deciding on what medium and canvas should be used. Sometimes it will take months to complete a project to Karen’s satisfaction and other times, should inspiration strike; Karen will work for hours lost in creativity. Through continuous exploration of Canadian culture and the beauty in nature and people, Karen attempts to bring her viewer along with her in the hopes that they too can be awestruck as she is with her surroundings. Karen currently has her art showcased at Apik Fine Art Gallery, Eau Claire Market in Calgary Alberta Canada
